as at last might , I@d not been offered 4.0.2 - will go check
AFAIK amazon app licencing is regularly checked by the app store manager not by the android OS - on non amazon hardware, if you remove the app store app then your amazon apps no longer work- they may work for one day ..until the next check..
that also means go can't use amazon apps offline on an android tablet for any great length of time in aeroplane mode. that check seems to need a server connection.
and the " totally free " underground apps will not work if you turn off"report stats back to amazon"
whereas Google play deals with the licencing when it does the install and does not bug you thereafter.
