If the felt is only on the inside of the cover, felt shouldn't be a problem.

If it helps, the official Kobo Aura sleep cover does not have a felt interior, though I think the little pocket area is made of felt or something similar. I think for any part that touches the screen when the cover is closed, they have to play it safe. It may not be an issue on a cover for a reader that doesn't have a flush screen. But the Aura does.
