I said it before and I'll say it again: it's not likely that whomever they had producing the KA1 was sitting around doing nothing waiting for Kobo to order more. Kobo would have to get in line and wait for the next available production slot and it the company was any good it wouldn't shock me that would be at least 2-3 months out. And that would just be the assembly company. I doubt that e-ink has stopped producing screens for their other customers so Kobo would be waiting on them to be able to fit a Kobo order in (even if the rest of the components were off the shelf). Kobo couldn't just call up the day after pre-orders started and it looked like a success and said I need more tomorrow.
Will they attempt to change something to improve the screen quality in the mean time: who knows, maybe. But I'd be shocked if that was the primary reason for the delay.
