Someone also mentioned upthread that an Amazon customer service rep said they had been overwhelmed by the Open Road traffic, and were adjusting to cope with it (moving to a separate server, IMS...).
I guess I could fault Amazon? or Open Road? for not predicting just how much traffic this sale was likely to generate, and thus some bobbles, but really, I'm not going to complain - this has been an amazing holiday present, and they even made it last for several days, so one wasn't totally out of luck if you had a few other things going on in your life. Like, I was on vacation, and my husband did NOT find it all that amusing that I was waking up early and spending a couple hours each day on the laptop "buying" books before going diving and doing other vacation-like things. (Although I myself think tons of good free ebooks is a pretty nice vacation experience...)
