If they're adding more books to their sale all along, that is really annoying. I'd like to be "one and done" with my searching. Instead, I'm having to go back through the whole sale selection over and over.
They must have taken their cue from the great University of Chicago sale (I use "great" sarcastically) of a couple of years ago. Those of you who monitor the Non-Fiction thread may remember it. They put out a bunch of sale books. Then a few days later they put out some more. Then a few days later, still some more. Then, the same thing maybe a couple of more times. What we had to do is to go back and look through the entire selection each time that they put out additional books, just in order to find the new ones. There apparently was no way to search for just the newly-added ones.
I've had some other bones to pick with UCP about their marketing, too. Just because you have a world-class department or two in academics at the school, doesn't mean that you know beans about publishing or marketing (I don't know beans about publishing, myself; but my academic background and most of my professional career has been in marketing). To their credit, it seems like they may have learned their lesson, because I haven't seen any more sales from them like that since that debacle.
All of that created a lot of ill will in me toward the University of Chicago, and especially their Press, and especially the marketing department (if they have one--I wonder) of their Press. I'm developing the same toward Open Road because of their shenanigans.
