Adi, the borked Windows update may be due to the previous Linux attempt.

One fairly obvious possibility for your problem may be that the manual install (in Linux) failed because the required files were not extracted into the correct directory structure (depending on the decompression software used)

Make sure it is on the SD card in /System/upgrade/ Note the lowercase folder name. If there is already something similar in System, delete it and copy a freshly extracted copy of the "upgrade" folder over (using a card reader if the DR1000 keeps hanging)

Do a cold boot / reset to make sure it starts from scratch. Good luck!
