Two problems though: I'm afraid I neglected the check the date of death of the translator, Constance Garnett, and as she died in 1946 the books won't be in the Public domain until the end of the year. And I'm going to take a break from Chekhov anyway; I find him quite depressing.
I've started on a different author (who died in 1867, so copyright is safe) and won't get back to Chekhov for several weeks.
