Also, I never pump the screen more than halfway (12, I believe). In normal room light, that gives just the right amount to simulate the thing being book-like, without this obvious, artificial glow. At night, with the room lights out, I tend to pump it down lower than that (8, I think), so the light isn't piercing my eyes.
EDIT: I pumped my light up to 24 and stared at it, and the only noticeable difference in screen illumination is that there's a more blueish tinge around the edges. Otherwise, it's a very even color across the screen.

I keep my Voyage around 18/20. I always have ever since my first PW1, I like a white screen. The Oasis wasn't awful and no doubt someone else would find it fine, it's just spending more money on a new device I expect the screen to be at least as good as my Voyage and it wasn't.
