Consider it a one-off purchase. That £100 is about the equivalent of four restaurant meals, or five or six trips to the supermarket... but it'll last a lot longer than the results of either.

It's not the just the money, the screen just isn't good enough for £269.00. All I could think of was how many books I could buy with the balance if I bought a Paperwhite instead. The money is mine to do what i want with and I just can't spend it on an Oasis at the moment, its just not good enough, i'd be forever looking at the difference in the screen from left to right.
I think its particularly telling that it has been wrapped up to be returned to the store since last night and I haven't once felt the urge to retrieve it and have another look. That tells me how much I want it.
The basic problem is that with the LED lights on the side the screen colour difference is far more noticable than on any other kindle and that is the downside of the device. Hopefully a future release will fix the issue.
