My sister wants to move into her apartment during Christmas. Normally I wouldn't mind helping her move, but from Tuesday (the 13th) until the 24th I won't have a day off work and I'll probably have to go downstairs a couple of nights to finish processing shipments. After Christmas there are another two busy weeks, with a day off on the 1st.

It might sound self centred, but I'm not too happy about spending Christmas doing heavy lifting. The plan is to carry the first half of her stuff downstairs on Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day we get up nice and early, I have to cycle over to her place, since there will be no room for me in the car. There I'm on stair duty; my father will move the stuff from the car to the lobby, I carry it up two flights of stairs to my sister's floor, where she will put the boxes in the right room. I don't know how I have to get her bed, bookshelves and wardrobes up on my own, though. After we've finished we go home, have Christmas dinner and afterwards carry down the rest of her stuff. On Boxing Day we again get started early and repeat what we did the day before.

It probably sounds self centred, but I'm not looking forward to it. And I'm very glad I decided to book a vacation in January, I had almost chosen to go in November, but by the 16th I'll need my week off by myself.
