Come on guys, believing that our smartphones/tablets/PCs'screens won't harm our eyes is like believing that Santa Claus exists.

Bring on the tin hats, folks!

Your assertion (see your original post) is that one will lose one's eyesight. This is the biggest pile of BS that I've ever heard. In fact, I may need to wear some special boots when I read a post like that.

Back-lit devices, such as computers and tablets CAN cause some dry eyes and some eye strain IF one reads at length and IF the light is set too high. Additionally, studies have shown that reading on some tablets at night MAY interrupt circadian sleep patterns in some individuals.

But I've yet to hear of someone losing his eyesight from reading on a back-lit device (as you assert, although you later fine-tuned your song-and-dance to reflect a case of hyperbole) - unless one drops the darn device on an exposed eyeball while reading in bed. I can see that happening, sure, especially if one's holding a LAPTOP above one's head! OUCH!

Again: Get your tin hats here, folks!

And I DO believe in Santa Claus. My son tells me he exists, and I believe my son! To think otherwise would be.....criminally insane. My faith in Santa Claus is firmly invested in the film "The Polar Express." I continue to hear the bell, even at my age.
