I found these. They are actually made by Kobo:
KOBO Classic Cover FOR KOBO AURA
However they don't show views of the inside. My official Kobo cover does snap in. But it's pretty solidly in there.
Otherwise, I say take the gamble on the eBay case. At the very least it isn't too expensive. And it does look very nice.
