The Kobo Aura One is 7.9" and that's so close to 8" you'll never know the difference. I haven't actually seen one but I've used a number of Kobos and they're good devices. That's not to say the Onyx or Inkbooks aren't good. I haven't seen them either.
Personally I wouldn't buy an ereader I haven't seen unless I felt good about being able to return it if it wasn't what I wanted.
