It is if you like the product and want to be able to continue getting it.

To a great extent, that is the other side of supply and demand. If demand for a product isn't enough to pay for the cost of the product, then the product won't be produced. Thinking that you can get a quality product that takes a lot of man hours to produce for a few dollars is the flip side of the producer wanting to sell a product that cost $2 to produce for $200. Neither is a very long lasting business model.
