And we talking about two different sets of features. Kindle Comic Creator enable/disable features that were available before 5.8.5.

There is no Manga ON/OFF switch on EPUB header level. Just other modes of Panel View. And regardless of the settings as long output file don't use KFX format new features implemented in 5.8.5 firmware will be not available.
