My review of The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson :-
Vin is our main character, precocious just rightly so that she can struggle in the magical realm of the Mistborn, but powerful enough to progress to the next level.
Kelsier is her mentor, and his scarred past induces hair-raising horror. The other characters are plainly fleshed out. Vin's potential in the magic system in this book is not great enough to defeat the Lord Ruler. I won't tell you what happens in the end, but suffice to say that there are no happy ending, not completely.
You see, The Lord Ruler is an immortal. In another world, only another immortal could, perhaps, kill the Lord Ruler. Sanderson provides enough info to make the defeat of the Lord Ruler seem plausible. But it's the weak point of this book. However, I enjoyed the trappings of this fantastic world enough. It's a great introduction to the fantasy genre.
