But thinking kitchen/recipes, that's not something you need a great speaker for, you can easily prop up the tablet to read it, and if you destroy it with cookie dough or liquid, you're not out a lot of money.
Seems to me getting an Echo or Dot AND a tablet would make more sense and be more versatile than getting an Echo with a screen.
