It has nothing to do with them being generous or not or a 90 day or 1 year warranty. His device is new and should be returnable for a full refund under Amazon's own return policy (whether because it's defective or because he just doesn't like it), likewise the cover. As for the warranty Square Trade may need to be called to take advantage of the 90 day full refund policy on that.



I do know that some stores have a policy of only refunding via gift card on transactions using one time CC numbers, but it doesn't sound like that's been Amazon's policy.
