I got a new Voyage with the $50 off deal they had several weeks ago. I don't see any color gradient, much less a brightness gradient. My PW1 had both issues. My PW3 lacks such issues, but text looks more washed out with front light turned up. Text is more consistently crisp on the Voyage over a greater range of lighting conditions.

As for the power button, I'd recommend getting a cover to wake/sleep without needing to locate the button.

The haptic buttons are okay, but not great. When in the cover, there is too much 'squishiness' with the cover folded back to operate the left buttons, so I pretty much never use them. And it still feels a little awkward for my right thumb, though preferable to using swipe gestures. Reminds me of Nook Simple Touch buttons.

I love having the screen flush and not recessed where it catches lint and crap.
