is it a PDF? Read the sticky about PDFs at the top of ths section.

Missing letters? possibly were Ligatures (like: ffi)

Textbooks are best left in native form as they usually have charts and tables that are easily mangled

There is another Kindle format (AZW4) that basically wraps a PDF in a Kindle compatible jacket that works with all but the oldest K's
