I got the 7" Fire on prime day for the same price.
I've been using it almost daily for audiobooks, and like it very much for that purpose. It's also pretty good for Prime videos. I have used it for reading, and I have no trouble getting immersed in a book and forgetting about the screen. But side by side with a HD resolution screen, the resolution is noticeably worse. If you'll be satisfied with one seems to depend on how picky you are about screens.
The 8 inch HD might make a better reader, with slightly higher resolution, I haven't seen it.
Or the 6 inch HD, if still available, is a very good screen for reading, it's my reading in bed device.
