Discussed my parents' Christmas and birthday gift (their birthdays are in January and February) with my sister. We had decided earlier this year we would give them a weekend away, since they haven't done that in at least 6 years. After the Family Thing started almost three and a half years ago my parents told us they wouldn't take a break until it was resolved. It isn't, they couldn't have known it would take this long. So we decided to book a weekend away for them in February, so they can not not go.

With my sister buying her own apartment and having to do some work on it it became uncertain if she still wanted to give such a big gift, but I was willing to pay for it all myself, since my parents deserve a weekend away. But it looks like she's willing to repay me half. We've decided to book the deluxe apartment, with views over the water if one is still available that can be reached by elevator. We're also booking the deluxe extra's: extra large towel, candles, showergel and the deluxe check out service, where they don't have to worry about emptying the dishwasher, take the trash out or pile up the sheets and towels in the hallway.

Hopefully, despite their decision over three years ago, they'll like their present.
