That's why they are the only ones with an 8" and 10.2" display. They work closely with PVI during the engineering of most of the eInk displays, and can design special ones for their own devices. Most consumers aren't aware of that because it's behind the scenes, so we tend to forget how much iRex has been involved with eInk technology in general.

As to their software development, I don't really know how many people they have, but I do get the impression that it's a pretty small team. I don't know if it's necessarily "two guys in a back room"... it might be three.
I wasn't aware that other devices had irex engineering int them, thankf for the heads up. As far as start up goes, I guess I used the wrong word, I meant start up only in terms of size as in different that an a sony, but it was the wrong term.
