EDIT button under the message on the right. But posting a follow up message is fine, indeed I think it is preferable because it bumps the thread.
You could try using the Bulk Metadata Download option (it can be used on a single book), it's accessible via Ctrl+D (unless you changed it). I don't often download metadata, and when I do I usually skip the the blurb.
