I let my subscription lapse last July. I used it (mostly the 2-day free shipping) like crazy during the time that I had it. I feel like it was a good deal while I had it.
I didn't renew. For one thing, having Prime caused me to overspend, I think. I bought stuff which was nice to have, might be helpful one day, etc., etc., but weren't things that I couldn't do without. I was spending at an unsustainable rate (Incidentally, I read--I think that maybe even Amazon was the one who acknowledged this, without putting a dollar figure on it--that people who had Prime
do spend more than those without it).
I find now, that I can't really come up with enough stuff at Amazon that I need to reach their minimum for free shipping. Most of what I buy and have shipped to the house now are items from Walmart, in part to help keep me from being in their stores as much as possible. I found Amazon's grocery stuff too much of a pain in order to buy from that department of their's much. I hate Walmart, but I have to admit that they, more likely than anyone else, have the product that I want, in the size or quantity that I want, at the price that I want. And, it's usually not difficult to find $50 (minimum for free shipping) worth of stuff every couple of weeks that I need.
Some of you really go for the media that you get with Amazon Prime. I watched a few documentaries. To me, for the most part, they were meh, and there are plenty of sources around the web which are free; on top of that, I have bought a lot of documentaries on DVD's that I have yet to watch.
