Even though this (posting stuff) is a volunteer job, I feel that I should apologize for being so late in the day posting the day's freebie from YourClassical. I got so involved in trying to figure out the AlexanderStreet/OpenMusicLibrary thing last night and today that, to be honest, I forgot about this one. Hopefully, anyone who would have wanted it will see it and be able to get it before the promotion expires. I think that the YourClassical freebies always expire at 2 a.m. Eastern Time on what is technically the next day, so you've still got almost 9 hours left to download this one.

Anyway, today's freebie comes from a Naxos album of Edward Elgar's compositions, Elgar: The Wand of Youth - Nursery Suite. The particular piece from the album that you can get free is The Wand of Youth Suite No. 1: Slumber Scene.

The album is performed by the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. James Judd is the conductor.

Wanna know more, in the way of general and miscellaneous information, about the entire album? Well, Naxos has a dedicated webpage for that, and it is here. There is a separate Naxos webpage dedicated to reviews of the album, of which there are quite a few this time. You can find it here.

But, I know that everyone is clamoring to know my expert take on the piece. . Well, it has that old, classical orchestral sound. I found it to be a relaxing piece.

If you wish to download the 4 minute, 11 second free piece, the thing to do is to navigate to this webpage. Locate the "Direct MP3 download link" and click on it.

Happy listening! See you tomorrow, unless I forget.
