I haven't heard of a Amazon releasing an update for the PW-1.

The Java interface for Kindlets is suppose to be stable -
for as long as it was officially supported.
On your 5.8.x it only happens to be not-yet-disabled (on the 8th. generation devices, the code isn't gone, just disabled by a control flag).

Official support was dropped a long time ago.

So you can't depend on 5.6.y <-> 5.8.x interchange any longer.

Now true, KUAL did not stop working until the 8th generation devices -
But you may be using interface calls that KUAL is not.

The KUAL source might be a good place to look for how the various screen sizes and resolutions are handled.

And your PW-3 has twice the RAM that the PW-1 does -
Plus there are those "not enough space" failure messages in his log.
