Device: Kindle Paperwhite 3, Kobo Aura, Kobo Glo HD
I owned 2 Kobo devices before, the original Aura and the Glo HD. I busted the Aura (broken substrate) and the Glo HD suddenly just started acting up in less than a year (impractical to claim warranty so it's an expensive paperweight now). I like that Kobo is customisable, especially with the fonts. However, biggest dealbreaker is the stability. I've experienced screen freezes and sudden crashes on both my devices and I keep the firmware up to date. Customer services was also no help at all for international customers like me. I believe those are also some of the major complaints on the Kobo section of the forum.

On the other hand, I've never had any crashes on my months old PW3. I also like that it feels much more solid than the Kobo devices I own. Only drawback is that fonts aren't as customisable but I can definitely live with that. I got mine with the ads but Amazon was kind enough to remove it for free. To date, I have no regrets switching to a Kindle.
