Yes, my wife's iPhone gets "pushed" all the time. I've set it to not "install" upgrades automatically, but it does "download" automatically. Hard to ignore a "500MB gorilla" after it's downloaded, so I usually install shortly thereafter.

I've seen several Black Friday previews. The Mini 2 Retina is still available; Walmart will have the 32GB WiFi version for $199. I might just cave in and buy one at that price to upgrade my non-Retina 16GB Mini. The Retina screen and twice the space are tempting.
