Yesterday I went ahead and upgraded my iPad Mini 2 Retina to iOS 10.x.x. I was starting to get the constant annoying nagging from Apple. I mostly use my 16GB Mini for reading and a few other tasks. No hard core memory and/or processor intensive stuff. I fully expected to see a marked slow down afterwards, but to my surprise iOS 10.x.x seems to run as fast as iOS 9.x.x was. So far so good. No glitches. I forgot to look at the amount of memory available before and after the update, so I have no clue as to how much more space iOS 10.x.x takes over 9.x.x on the Mini.
I'm still of the opinion that I will never update my iPhone 5 though. I keep it as a backup only, so it rarely even gets turned on, and when it does it is in Airplane mode to keep it from phoning home. The next upgrade I do will will likely be to buy a newer iPhone in a year or so, and then I will either sell the iPhone 5 or give it to a friend or family ember. Either way, I think I'll let a future owner decide whether to upgrade it to 10.x.x or 11.x.x.
