Well... couldn't you cut the end of the stick, the top of the broken tip (so there's no splintering), and then have the part of the wood you cut away replaced with a new piece made to fit? Then you could wrap a silver, gold or bronze band around the stick, new part, and part of the tip to hide the fact that there's a new part in there. Just an idea...
