People don't realize there are other sources for ereaders. Amazon does sell refurbed? used ones - bought an older Kindle like that, managed to get recipes on it, and it was in the kitchen for 6 months collecting flour.
Most people only know about the Nook and the Kindle. Borders used to sell Kobo, but Borders went belly-up.
The other half got bored and wanted an ereader, so I factory reset it about a year ago and gave it to him. It's still going strong.
I still have the original Nook Wifi I could put in the kitchen, except now I can print recipes from anywhere, including phone.
I liked the Nook and the buttons. I finally managed the inkBOOK Obsidian. I like it. Love the flat bezel - no crumbs or cat hair in the nooks and crannies. Best of all, it will use an SD card.
