Just want to advise using a PW3, running 5.8.5.0.1 - the github version works fine.
Ran into the error of something went really wrong, but re-installing Python using the MR Installer fixed it.

this link, download Helper, MR Package Installer and the relevant Python.
Install the Helper and MR Package Installer by pasting the folders to the root dir of your Kindle.
Paste the Python update bin into the MR installer folder.
Run KUAL -> Helper -> Install MR Packages
From the
Github link (this is from the opening post), "Clone or Download" button, open it, get the 'librariansync' folder and paste it into /extensions on your Kindle.

EDIT: If you did a dumb like me, for some reason, you have to be in airplane mode to update collections...
