@theducks -- I am blue-green color blind and faint shades of blue or green tend to go to white for me
I found that the large icon size helps, even if it does cost me some screen real estate
There are some icons that do have the symbol very close in hue to the background field, like Remove
If the symbol were a total different color (like black) that would help
As they are now, they're prettier and in almost all cases easier to select
