Formatting Issues with Chinese E-book

I have been using OpenOffice Writer along with calibre 2.7.1 to create an mobi e-book of a Chinese book. I have completed the formatting, etc. and the book looks pretty good. However, the book has some end notes and I want to create a Table of Contents in addition to calibre's automatic table of contents. Most of the links work like I would expect them to, but for some reason when I use two of the six total links in either the Table of Contents or the footnotes the link takes me to the correct place in the book, but inserts formatting html before the Chinese text. When I turn the page and then go back, the page displays correctly without the additional html.

Before I tried this book I have done e-books in English, but never have had this formatting problem before. Has anybody else had a problem similar to mine? I would like to believe that some unseen formatting data is causing my problems, but I keep on trying to delete and add clean Chinese characters by running them through notepad, but these problems seem to be jumping around the odt document. Thank you!
