I borrowed one last month too from my HD 8. Today it only worked on my old eink Kindle. Kindle Owners Lending library is supposed to still be available. I just tried my HDX 7 and it has a button for borrowing, but says my monthly limit was reached.

Edit: I borrowed a book with my eink which is why the hdx showed my monthly limit was reached.
