I just installed Sigil 0.9.7 64 bit on Windows 10 Pro 1511 over the top of 0.9.6 (I'll uninstall and reinstall to get rid of the dross shortly, but I wanted to test the calibre OW issue in worst case scenario). I did not reboot Windows. I did not associate Sigil with EPUBs.

Since calibre's built in Open With was released some time back, that's the way I've been launching Sigil (and many other things) from within calibre, I removed the optional OW plugin. Using the built-in OW, I have no problems regarding covers or other images in Sigil 0.9.7.

So those with problems might want to consider switching to calibre's built-in OW. I do the configuration via the Open XXXX With button in the View specific format dialogue. It's much simpler to configure than the OW PI, but it does all I ever did with the PI.
