The first option conceivably means you can be a member for a longer stretch, with access to all membership benefits. The second would keep you from missing out on a deal that might be cancelled prematurely or from being able to use up all the offers if they stack quickly with short expirations.
Obviously you quit as soon as possible when another deal is about to go off, but otherwise? I tend to go the prolongment route, just because I'm not confident that the current wealth of deals will continue indefinitely, but how about others?.

I'm going to cancel next month as soon as the second credit on my current promo hits, because I want to be sure I can take advantage of the next two offers (Groupon and HSN) before they expire. If there was no new promo on the table, I'd wait, just in case some great sale came along (even though I've rarely picked up anything from the sales).
