Someone forgot to read step #7 of the JB.
You do not have to keep the kindle off-line to prevent OTA updates.

Hmm... that might interfere with bringing up the menu on baf's new build of kTerm (the two finger touch to enable VV over Bluetooth). I'll have to ask him about that in his kTerm thread.
