Is there a setting to retain, or reapply, the current search when switching between different virtual libraries. Currently it always clears the search.
I've been 'blaming' View Manager's lack of awareness of Virtual Libraries for this ever since VL's were 'invented'. But because it's been driving me nuts recently, I did a test on a newly installed release 70 portable with default settings and no optional PI's and I got the same behaviour - VL Switching loses the current search.
A search initiated from the Tag Browser does not create an entry in Search history, so that's not a solution. FWIW: a search initiated by one of the Similar Books options does create an entry in Search history
My preference would be a setting that caused the current search to be retained (or re-applied) when switching Virtual Libraries, but if it's easier to provide a setting to force retention of Tag Browser initiated searches in Search History, so that I can reapply them manually, then that would better than having to reconstruct the search term in the Tag Browser.
I'm surprised this hasn't been requested before.
Aside : has any thought ever been given to keeping search history at the library level, rather than global. Because the custom columns are too disparate I will never combine my physical libraries. Sifting through terms in search history that refer to columns that don't exist in the current library is somewhat 'untidy'
