When I was in college, my reading speed for everything slowed way down because of all the technical stuff that had to be absorbed. I found I did the same thing with novels and it annoyed me. So about 6 months after college, I did a speed reading practice thing (AOL - while it was still all Mac) and sped up to roughly where I was in high school. I continued to read at that pace until I started losing my vision. Now I'm very slow and do most novels via audiobook or text-to-speech instead. I do still read, but mostly just short books (under 300 pages) and literary magazines (Asimov's).
