Font hack doesn't work on 5.x software, if I'm not mistaken.

What was the issue with installing KUAL, if you don't mind me asking?
Thanks for clearing that up. I'm confused about the font hack, though, as some of the information in the initial post of that thread seems a little contradictory to my eyes. My overall understanding was that it wouldn't work with anything above 5.7 firmware, but I'm happy to be corrected either way (I'd be thrilled to learn that it does work on a jailbroken KV running 5.8.5, as when I last had a jailbroken Kindle, it was one of my favourite hacks.

I'm happy to tell you about what happened with me and KUAL - having downgraded to 5.50, I tried to install KUAL by putting the 2.0 azw file into the /documents folder. It produced the icon on the Kindle, but it presented with an error message when I tried to open it. I then realised that I hadn't installed MRPi (although I didn't believe from the instructions that I needed to, for installing KUAL at any rate).

So I installed MRPi, and then tried putting the 2.0 azw file on there again - it still wouldn't run. At this point I used the package installer instead and actioned it from the search bar, and that worked.

Then I updated the firmware, totally oblivious at that point that this would apparently necessitate a reinstall of KUAL. Silly me! Predictably, having updated my firmware, I found that KUAL no longer worked! At this point I tried putting the 2.0 azw file on again...and this time that worked.

In all, it left me rather baffled (I'm still baffled now, and apologies if my explanation doesn't make sense! ), but at least it's working. I do have two KUAL entries on my Kindle now though, one with the full logo - obviously the azw version, which works fine - and another one marked KUAL (presumably the booklet version), with no logo, which doesn't work when I tap it, and which I can't hold down on and delete.

I'm just glad that it works now to be honest; I can live with the two KUAL entries on my device!

PS - Have I done enough to block OTA updates by the way, or do I need to do anything else?
