I've looked at your epub and, as predicted, the extra metadata files (inside the epub, not in metadata.opf) that EpubMerge uses to unmerge have all be removed.

It looks like Calibre Convert (EPUB->EPUB) was done on the file. Calibre is the only dc:contributor listed and I see similar changes (extra metadata files removed and files renamed the same way) doing a Calibre Convert (EPUB->EPUB) for myself.

With those files removed, there isn't any current way to update those epubs as anthologies.

I know I've recommended Calibre Convert (EPUB->EPUB) for certain problems in past, and it's never been a problem with individual story books. But apparently it now breaks anthology books.

I suspect that it probably always did, since discarding the apparently useless metadata files is not an unreasonable thing to do from Calibre's POV.

However, surviving a Calibre Convert (EPUB->EPUB) isn't an unreasonable expectation, so I will look into whether I can make it work for anthologies. Might not be until next week, though.
