But you're way wrong on the no horror films are clean/ PG-13 thing. Many of the best horror films are G or PG imho.

I shouldn't have said that with such certainty. My horror film watching days was in my teens and early 20's. My recollection was that they were all rated R, and that was for the pretend blood and other gore.
The horror genre may be broader than I realize, also. I'm not talking about thrillers, suspense, etc., even when an occasional person turns up dead, even experiences a violent death. I'm talking about the genre where people get chopped up, and otherwise killed suddenly in violent ways, etc.--
a lot. Examples include Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Nightmare on Elm Street I, II, III, how many ever there were, Halloween I, II, III, how many ever there were, Night of the Living Dead. And what was that movie about a camp on a lake where the kids were killed off one by one. Was that the one was Jason in? Did I include that one in the bunch? Oh, I remember now, there was at least one sequel to that horror movie with the teenagers at a camp on a lake gradually getting picked off. I watched almost all of them.
