I don't get it. All of these big companies start out there--Starbucks, Amazon, Boeing (yes, I know that the HQ is in Chicago, but you know what I'm saying), Microsoft . . . .

I've got a theory. In the NW it rains so much that the kids there can't go outside to play. So, they stay indoors and create stuff. Little stuff, at first, but eventually computer operating systems, a line of excellent coffees from all over the world, MobileRead moderators . . . . well, you get the point.

BTW--it rains here in Florida (the "Sunshine State") almost as many days of the year as in the NW. The difference is, when it rains in Florida, it very often does so for about 5 minutes, and then the sun comes out for the rest of the day.
