Unfortunately, biology may not come into it (physiology, yes, of course). It's well-known that to the usual DNA soup of adenine, guanine, cytosine and thymine, your average Zany Carter adds Zhooshine, unCline and Deluxenol (and, in some variations, Chocolate), and a fair whack of unexpected recombinations plucked from the quantum flux of other universes. Adrian is ravenously pansexual, such that even Hugo, Lefty, the squid, the Goose and even the antechamber couch should be tested (not to mention that slutty espresso machine in the kitchen).
