I get only books that interest me so author newsletters are one thing. It's the auto-sub to instaFreebie that really irks me. Same goes for nice giveaways that don't let entrants choose which newsletters to subscribe to. And sponsors wonder why they end up in spam…
Perhaps they confuse newsletter with blog? Can you tell what newsletter service they use?

No. It look like an actual email (albeit a form one). I was looking on my tablet. I should try again on my PC.
ETA: Okay I got it to work. The link had http ://http// (without the spaces) to start. When I took off the extra http// it said I was unsubscribed.
It was a service called Sendy.
