Edit: I stay prepared all the time, so there's no last-minute scramble for needed supplies.

Having gone through a little more than a week of no power after the Halloween blizzard of 2011 and then more than a week of no power (and two weeks of no cell phone coverage) after Sandy in 2012, I do the same!
