Ha ha ha that sounds nightmarey but no, the case closes really tight thanks to the hardcore magnets and the nature of books. I'd call it splash-proof, and certainly goo-proof.

Not at all - when it is closed and in a bag traveling through a x-ray machine it looks like a reader (the book doesn't show up at all). When I am walking around with it closed it looks like a regular book. When I am reading it looks like I am a geek.
