No, I would not rather support Adobe's or Sony's attempts to do the same. Sony has at least made its device open to more sources and it is pretty clear that Sony does not dominate the bookselling world.

Adobe is not the sole sponsor of ePub but is part of the international consortium that created the standard which is an open standard, and Adobe does not sell me any books (does it have a bookstore?).

Additionally, neither Sony nor Adobe have the market power in publishing that Amazon currently has.

I don't see either Sony or Adobe as being in the same problem class as Amazon. I'm not suggesting that anyone needs to agree with me and I'm not suggesting that the Kindle is not a decent device or that Amazon doesn't have good prices and a good selection.
